About us
In the heart of the Central Victorian goldfields and surrounded by Grey Box and White Ironbark forests, you will find Welshmans Reef Vineyard.
Our first plantings in the gravelly quartz and ironstone soils were made in 1984. We are a family run business, producing wines from our own grapes. We also work with grape growers around the region, purchasing up front or sharing equally the profits of the finished wine.
In 2020 we established another vineyard near Smeaton, 30 kilometres south of Welshmans Reef.
The site was chosen for its cooler climate, rainfall, elevation and volcanic soil. We have 10 varieties planted, half red and half white. Our first harvest from this vineyard is taking place in 2025.
We also offer contract winemaking and wine bottling services. Please contact us for more information.
About our Wines
Winemaking Philosophy
Each grape variety expresses different flavours and aromas according to the unique vineyard location and terroir.
Our focus is on producing wine of quality, flavour, structure, complexity and longevity. We believe wine is for enjoying with friends and family.
Wine Style
We produce elegant fine wines that retain and express the unique grape varietal flavours and aromas of our region; Central Victoria Bendigo Region.
Our wines are fruit forward and structured with soft to medium tannins, and great depth of flavour. All our wines are vegan friendly.
