Sustainability
Sustainability is a priority in our vineyards and winery. Some of our current practices include:
- Rainwater tanks to collect water, this is the only water we use at our winery
- Solar panels at the winery power our daily operations
- At our Smeaton vineyard we are off-grid and use solar powered irrigation
- Minimal use of harsh chemicals such as caustic soda
- Minimal tractor passes in the vineyard, to reduce emissions and maintain better soil health and structure
- We use Environmentally low impact sprays on our vineyard
- Regenerative practices at Smeaton to improve soil and biodiversity, including cover crops sown between rows, planting windbreaks, revegetation throughout the property
We are working towards:
- Replacing diesel vehicles with electric or hybrid models as they become available (forklifts, tractors, utility vehicles)
- Gaining certification with Sustainable Winegrowing Australia
